Krav Maga training is potentially dangerous, and all activities undertaken with Pentagon Krav Maga are at the student's own risk.
As with all martial arts, there is a moderate risk of minor injury due to the physical, high-contact nature of Krav Maga training (cuts, bruises, strains & sprains, etc). There is also an emotional risk as some of the training seeks to increase stress, to enhance realism, including offensive language and other displays of aggressive behaviour. By training with Pentagon Krav Maga, the student acknowledges and accepts these risks.
The instructor is responsible for the safety of the class, and reserves the right to dismiss a student from the class at any time, without refunds, should a student be deemed a danger to themselves or others. Whether a student is welcomed back to the class following such an event is entirely at the instructor's discretion.
The student will complete a medical declaration before starting training with Pentagon Krav Maga. Furthermore, the student is responsible for alerting the instructor to any new injuries or medical conditions that may affect their safety-in-training before the class starts.
Due to the risks inherent in Krav Maga training, Pentagon Krav Maga strongly advises against training while pregnant, and will not accept any liability for problems that may arise from ignoring this recommendation.
The student must have no unspent criminal convictions for violence.
As stipulated by the IKMF (International Krav Maga Federation), the student must not be an enemy of the State of Israel. This includes but is not limited to membership of organisations that do not acknowledge Israel's unconditional right to exist, or seek to delegitimise the State.
The student is required to provide their own mouth guard and groin guard for training (note: insurance cover for dental injury is contingent on mouth guards being used). Pentagon Krav Maga will provide all other required pads, gloves etc, though students are welcome to bring their own equipment if they wish. Pentagon Krav Maga will not be held liable for any harm that may arise from the use of equipment not provided by Pentagon Krav Maga.
Classes with Pentagon Krav Maga may be paid for on a 'pay as you go' (PAYG) basis at £13 per session. Alternatively, the student may buy a block of six (6) or ten (10) classes, at £60 per block-of-6, and £85 per block-of-10. Blocks of classes expire after 2 months from the purchase date. Pentagon Krav Maga may, at their own discretion, extend the validity period if classes are missed due to instructor unavailability.
Classes purchased as a block may be redeemed at any of Pentagon Krav Maga's weekly classes.
Blocks of classes will be treated as the default purchase option unless the student explicitly informs Pentagon Krav Maga otherwise. Once a block is completed or expired, the next block will not be activated / charged-for until the student's next class (i.e. there is no automatic renewal).
A student's first class with Pentagon Krav Maga will be charged at the PAYG rate. There is no recurring membership fee or initial sign-up fee, and no obligation to continue training. The first block of classes purchased after a new student's first session will be at a discounted price of £47 or £72 (for blocks-of-6 and -10 respectively), rendering the initial class effectively free – this offer is not open to any members that have already had a free initial class with Pentagon Krav Maga.
Payment is collected on an as-and-when basis using GoCardless. Students should set-up the direct debit with GoCardless using this link (click here). The set-up will be completed before or at a student's first class. By agreeing to these terms, the student authorises Pentagon Krav Maga to take payments as needed.
A student may stop and/or resume training with Pentagon Krav Maga at any time without penalty. However, any unused lessons that have already been purchased will be allowed to expire and will not be refunded.
Private classes, including times and locations, are arranged on a case-by-case basis via correspondence with the instructor. Prices for private sessions start at £40 / hour. Up to two (2) people may be taught in one private class. Private sessions for more people, or that require significant travel for the instructor, or requiring additional venue hire will cost more.
A £20 deposit is payable immediately upon booking a private class; the session will not be confirmed until this deposit is received. This deposit is refundable if the session is cancelled or rebooked not less than 72 hours before the start, less any deductions due to lost venue booking fees. The deposit will be lost if the class is cancelled within 72 hours of the booked time, however the student may be permitted to rebook the session at the instructor's discretion. No-shows will be liable for the full cost of the session.
The student will register for IKMF membership via kravmaga-ikmf.co.uk once they have started paid-for training with Pentagon Krav Maga. This is required to insure the student against personal and third-party injury, as well as for gradings and other events, and costs £35 per annum. The student will not be insured until they join the IKMF. IKMF membership is not managed by or the responsibility of Pentagon Krav Maga in any way, and Pentagon Krav Maga will not be held liable for any losses resulting from a student failing to register with the IKMF.
Membership of Pentagon Krav Maga is non-exclusive; that is to say, students are free to train at other Krav Maga / martial arts clubs if they wish (subject to any restrictions at these third-party clubs).
Where a new student is referred to Pentagon Krav Maga by a named existing member, the referring member will be entitled to a free class. This will be redeemed at the next class after a completed block, before any new block is activated.
These terms and conditions are correct as of 26/03/2023, and supersede any previous versions.
